Von 10:00-12:30 Uhr haben Sie die Gelegenheit, die Antrittsvorlesungen dreier neuer Professoren zu verfolgen. Im Anschluss werden auch wieder die Fakultätspreise vergeben.

Die TU Dresden konnte unter Federführung von Prof. Schoop, Professur Informationsmanagement an der Fakultät Wirtschaftswissenschaften, erfolgreich einen Förderantrag im DAAD Programm IVAC (International Virtual Academic Collaboration) platzieren. Das Vorhaben TUD-COIIIL (TUD – collaborative international, interdisciplinary & intercultural learning) zielt auf die Entwicklung, Erprobung und Dissemination von good practice für die Internationalisierung des akademischen Lernens und Lehrens mittels Digitalisierung ab.

Prof. Schoop und sein Team an der Professur Informationsmanagement der TU Dresden forschen seit 20 Jahren zur Digitalisierung von Lern- und Lehrprozessen. Lange scheinbar „uninteressant“, wird die Expertise jetzt plötzlich verstärkt nachgefragt.
Research associate Alexander Clauss took part in the 12th the International Conference on Computer Supported Education, CSEDU. The conference was planned in Prague, but had to be held online from 02.05.-04.05.2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Alexander Clauss presented a collaborative paper written with Dr. Helge Fischer entitled: Design Recommendations For Successful Cross-University Collaborative Group Work – Two Best Practice Cases. The paper was selected out of 190 submissions from 46 countries. The acceptance rate was 23%.
Zoom was used for the virtual conference. Both recorded and live presentations were possible.
Recorded contributions were streamed in Zoom, afterwards the authors were available for questions. The quality of the majority of the presentations was consistently very high and easy to understand.
The sessions were moderated by a session chair and supported by a technical assistant. Technical problems were an exception. Switching between different sessions and rooms was possible without any problems. Questions were possible after the lectures via the chat function or as live messages, but they were mostly limited to simple check-backs and short answers, more detailed discussions hardly ever took place. However, for each article a forum for further discussion was offered on the conference platform. In addition, accompanying SLACK channels were offered in which the participants could exchange information in an uncomplicated and informal manner.
In summary, the transfer of the conference into a virtual environment was very well implemented and followed a very convincing and stable technical concept. A few recorded presentations were difficult to understand because of the audio quality. It might be helpful to introduce quality guidelines for recordings and check if they have been implemented.
A critical point to mention is that the participation fee which was already paid for real participation was not reduced for virtual participation. The full price appears to be very high for a virtual conference. The only reduction offered was a 25% voucher for the follow-up event in 2021.
Grants for participation were applied for in the form of the Graduate Academy’s Travel Award.
Research associate Alexander Clauss took part in the 14th annual International Technology, Education and Development Conference, INTED 2020 in Valencia from 2 to 4 March. He presented a collaborative paper with main author Anna Leichsenring entitled: An Essential Basis for The Design of an Innovative Platform To Qualify Corporate Community Managers. As session chair he moderated a session on Competence Based Evaluation. The conference was closed on Wednesday with a city tour.
Prof. Eric Schoop and Alexander Clauss successfully attended the DAAD conference Virtual Exchange – Borderless Mobility between the European Higher Education Area and Regions Beyond in Berlin on 11 December 2019 to discuss innovative developments with high-ranking representatives of the international higher education landscape and European education politics.
With virtual support from Prof. Ali Akbar Safavi from Shiraz University, Iran, they presented their article: A Framework to boost Virtual Exchange through International Virtual Collaborative Learning (VCL): The German-Iranian Example. They presented VCL as a long-established and well researched framework for designing Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) in an international context.
Basierend auf Prof. Schoops einschlägigem Lebenslauf und der strategischen Partnerschaft zwischen der Technischen Universität Dresden und der Shiraz University wurde Prof. Schoop vom 13. Oktober 2019 bis 25. Juni 2020 als Gastprofessor für drei Aufenthalte in Shiraz eingeladen.
